A sixth-generation descendant of the Scarlett family of Glynn County, Georgia, she is at work on a book about her slaveholding ancestors. She lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Adding, subtracting, calculating, measuring, devising. Not far from where your slaves stood in pens waiting to be sold.
