Upcoming Readers Write Deadlines
Fantasy, Taste, and Uniforms
September 21, 2023There’s still time to submit to Readers Write on “Fantasy”! Be sure to get your entry to us by October 1 — we’ve suggested a few potential prompts below if you still need to get your creative juices flowing. And it’s never too early to start your first draft for an upcoming topic. . . .
Fantasy: Entries due October 1
Maybe the covers of the paperbacks on your bookshelf all feature fire-breathing dragons and lots of chain mail. Maybe you think — a little too much — about leaving it all behind and sinking your feet into the sand of some sunny, faraway beach. Maybe you know someone whose head is constantly in the clouds. Make a dream come true and send us your true-story submissions about fantasy.
Taste: Entries due November 1
Love bananas? Hate shiplap? Ever connected with a stranger over a shared interest in books, fashion, or footwear? Has your taste in music or friends ever gotten you in trouble? Tell us about the time you tried — and failed — to cook a special meal or about when you said something that was in poor taste. Send us your favorite stories, but remember that we only like true ones for Readers Write.
Uniforms: Entries due December 1
Ever had to dress a certain way for work — in a company T-shirt, scrubs, a judge’s robe? Have you donned fatigues or dress blues as a member of the military? Maybe the sight of someone in official duds turns you on — or maybe it fills you with apprehension. Tell us about your most memorable experience wearing your sports-team jersey, marching-band uniform, or Scout sash. Dress up your story however you like, but remember we only publish true accounts in Readers Write.
