the single step
taken
is the step
that brings us
here.

each departure,
a taking leave.
each destination,
an arrival fixed in time.

but time itself
is fixed:
a passage of the mind,
a destination of its own.
then to now,
there to here,
a journey completed
out of Time.

and the single step,
from birth to death,
the only step we know.
