IV. suffering the description: what is understood so clearly it cannot be said. what is said so clearly it is understood too well. if love is as much the absence as the fact, the mystery as the understanding, then perhaps definition is the only betrayal. let’s take no pictures, consult no maps, ask and give no directions, at least until there is nothing left. and then, faithful to nothing, nothing can prevent our understanding.
