Hannah Soyer lives in the Midwest and is the founder of This Body Is Worthy, a project celebrating bodies outside mainstream societal ideals. She is also a cat and chocolate enthusiast.

Virgie Townsend was raised as an independent fundamental Baptist in Upstate New York. Her short story in this issue is excerpted from her fiction chapbook Because We Were Christian Girls. She is working on a novel.

Thomas Boblett was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Upon retiring from many years in a cubicle, he relocated to the new landscapes, new colors, and new people of New Mexico.

Lisa Whiteman is happiest when taking photos of people, whether they’re senior citizens in a roller rink, young boys in a boxing gym in Cuba, or her heavily photographed (and patient) children. She lives with her family in Maplewood, New Jersey.

Cynthia E. Wood lives in San Francisco, where she browses bookstores, cooks, listens to LPs, and sings in a secular chorus focused on Eastern European folk songs.

Monica Jane Frisell went on her first solo road trip when she was seventeen years old, driving from Washington State through Nevada and discovering a love of the road that now fuels her nomadic lifestyle and her photography. She took the photo on this month’s cover in June 2022 in Cleveland, Ohio, at Nicole’s eighteenth birthday party.
