Robert C. Kozek is from Puerto Rico and lives in Los Angeles, where he works as a commercial photographer. He took this month’s cover photograph in Riverside County, California, in 2006 while working as an aerial photographer. “You can see the rigid, man-made, gridlike form juxtaposed with the remnants of a free-flowing river,” he says. “To me, the image shows our need to own and control the natural world rather than embracing and accepting it.”
