Shanna Swan is one of the world’s leading environmental and reproductive epidemiologists. She is the coauthor, with journalist Stacey Colino, of Count Down: How Our Modern World Is Threatening Sperm Counts, Altering Male and Female Reproductive Development, and Imperiling the Future of the Human Race. Swan majored in math at the City College of New York and went on to earn a master’s in biostatistics at Columbia University and a PhD in statistics from the University of California, Berkeley. She has served as Professor of Environmental Medicine and Public Health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City since 2011.
