Anne Frank was a German-born Jewish girl whose family fled to Amsterdam after the Nazi Party gained power. After hiding from the German occupying forces for two years, the family was captured, and Anne died in a concentration camp in 1945. The diary she kept while in hiding was published by her father, the only surviving family member, in 1947.
