I
There’s nothing wrong
with living within
and without yourself
as long as you know
                                              where home is;
and when some ole country friend
                                                             of yours
wants to go howl at the moon
in your upper class
front yard,
don’t scream Hick!
Just stare into your sky lite
and say hello.

Wisdom’s learned
through the passing of time
                                  and experience.

Books relate what could happen
or could have possibly happened
but never what’s really
                                                    coming
                                                                     down
              Up!
Look
as a group of stars
cluster and call themselves
the galaxy worth watching.

The funeral’s lead horse
never follows dead soldiers
to fresh graves;
the bodies would just rot
into little fragments anyway,
                    right where they’re at
and become nothing more
than a part of the earth
and the sky.
